What is a Rhodium overlay?

Rhodium Overlay is a layer of Rhodium applied over the sterling silver.

Purpose: It improves appearance and durability. Rhodium gives a bright, mirror-like finish that looks like white gold.

Tarnish-resistant: It helps prevent silver from oxidising or tarnishing.

Hypoallergenic: Rhodium is nickel-free and safe for most sensitive skin.

Can be reapplied: You can have jewellery re-plated by a jeweller if the shine fades.
What is the difference between Gold Vermeil and Gold plating?

Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is a specific type of high-quality gold-plating process over sterling silver. The term "vermeil" is derived from the French word for "gilded silver." To be classified as gold vermeil, jewellery must meet certain criteria:

  1. Base Metal: The core of gold vermeil jewellery is always sterling silver.
  2. Gold Layer: The gold layer that is electroplated onto the sterling silver must be at least 2.5 microns thick, 5 times thicker than average gold plating, this thickness helps ensure the durability of the gold coating. At Lucy Quartermaine all our gold vermeil pieces are coated at 3 microns.
  3. Gold Purity: The gold used in vermeil must be of a certain purity, usually at least 10 carats, although it is often higher, such as 14ct, 18ct, or even 24ct. All Lucy Quartermaine Gold Vermeil pieces are 18ct Gold Vermeil.
How do I keep my jewellery looking shiny?
  • Take it off before showering, swimming, or sweating heavily
  • Avoid lotions, perfumes, and hair products while wearing it. Apply these first, then let them dry
  • Use a silver polishing cloth every time you think your jewellery is starting to look dull to bring the shine back.  All Lucy Quartermaine pieces are supplied with a polishing cloth to help you keep your pieces looking their best!
  • Wipe with a soft, damp cloth - avoid abrasive products as they can strip the rhodium plating
  • Don’t expose jewellery to cleaning products or chlorine
  • Being mindful day-to-day makes the biggest difference - jewellery shines longer when it’s treated gently.
What do you use to prevent the jewellery from tarnishing?

All our jewellery has Rhodium layer on top of the silver which will prevent any tarnishing. 
How do I work out my ring size?

You can find a ring size guide on any ring product on our website.

Can I purchase items in other currencies?

Yes, you can change your currency in the top left-hand corner of our website. 
What payment methods can I use?
  • We accept all major credit and debit cards. 
  • Express checkout we accept; ShopPay, PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
  • We also accept Klarna. 
Can I cancel my order?

Yes, please call us immediately if your order has been made mistakenly and as long as we have not dispatched your item(s) we will cancel it and refund the full amount.
How do I use a promotion or offer code?

When you head to check out you will find a box under your product(s) for discount codes or gift cards. 
Can I order gift vouchers?

You can. Gift cards are available in denominations of £10 / £25 / £50 / £100 / £500

Gift cards are digital, and will be emailed immediately after payment. 

Delivery & Returns

How do I return my items?
  • Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving the order
  • Item must be unworn, in original packaging, and in resalable condition
  • Earrings can’t be returned for hygiene reasons unless faulty
  • Include your order number, reason for return, and whether you want a refund or exchange
  • Use the original packaging where possible
  • Add a note with your name, order number, and return request

How long is delivery outside the UK?

1-3 weeks depending on customers and tax
What are the shipping charges?
  • We offer free delivery on all orders over £100. 
  • Orders under £100 postage charges are £4.50
What delivery options are there?
  • All items are sent 48hr unless specially requested 
  • Next Day delivery costs an additional £10
How do I track my order?

As soon as your item is dispatched, you'll get an email with a tracking link so you can follow its journey.
